14th August: Celebrating another year of ‘lipservice’

ON August 14th

Pakistani Musicians: [The people who “love” Pakistan the most] Hide your jeans and T Shirts.. n if a female singer – all your western  dresses… adorn a White Shalwar Kameez and sing your Love for Pakistan and claim to be a Proud Pakistani.

Way of Celebration: Hold some concerts or TV Shows…. sing one or two patriotic songs…wave some flags, wear a patriotic badge

Pakistanis: [Wearing a patriotic badge…waving the national flag] Instead of working for the country, take a holiday on 14th August and claim your patriotism…I love Pakistan I’m Proud to be Pakistani I will do this for my country.. i will do that for my country…blah blah blah

Way of Celebration: Wave the flags on your bikes, cars, shops and houses. Get rid of the silencers of your motor bikes – head towards sea view. Break all hell loose by destroying everything that comes in your way.. gas stations..sign boards, footpaths, shops in the meanwhile creating traffic jams and creating unbearable noise pollution that make the life of fellow Pakistanis living along Khataban e Ittehad and Sea View miserable.

Pakistani Government: Celebrating 60 years of Independence, We have done this for our country.. that for our country.. itnee Tarraqi huee hai.. itna kaam hua hai.. blah blah..

Way of Celebration :Appear on some TV Show.. reiterate your (fake) love for Pakistan and (non) hardwork you have done. Listen to and shake hands with the respectable female Pakistani singers…

Rest of the Year :

Pakistani Musicians: Pakistan ? What Pakistan… Shalwar Kameez..??? Ewww backwards.. adorn your jeans and shirts, do your utmost to look like western singers or Movie Stars and sing songs of love for your beloved. Make vulgar videos copying western singers and Indians. Throw down in the gutter all social values of being a Muslim and a Pakistani. Go out of Pakistan at every possible opportunity… try to get Indian or American/British/Canadian Nationality so you dont have to live in this country…

Pakistanis: Try and make as much money as possible, by hook or by crook. Defraud, cheat and lie and steal. Steal electricity, take bribes, throw kachra everywhere, spit out paan, break traffic laws. Never get to your office on time.. leave office early, do chutti when ever you want. Celebrate everything and everyday by asking for a public holiday. [If people are given the choice.. they would work once a month- rest of the days should be a public holidy – great service to the nation.!!] If you want to protest.. go set some restaurant on fire or some other shop on fire.
Government of Pakistan: Go back to looting the country.

In the end.. everybody is the same. All our claims are nothing but a lipservice. because lip service is easy, all you need to do is move your tongue. Words like hard Work, punctuality, dedication, sincerity and loyalty do not belong in our dictionary of patriotism.

What is Bidah(Innovation) in Islam?

The religion of  Islam was perfected and completed by Allah through Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alayhe wasallam around fourteen hundered years ago. Every aspect of our religion was explained in the Quran and by the actions and sayings of Prophet Muhammad sallahu alayhe wasallam. All forms of worship were explained and all masnoon acts and deeds were explained and exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (s)

Allah All Mighty says in the Quran:

“Today I Have completed for you your religion and perfected my favor upon you and have chosen Islam as your Religion”(Quran: 5:3)

After this is if anyone adds anything new to religion considering it to be a GOOD DEED and thinking that it will be a source of reward and coming closer to Allah then that good deed is a bidah – Innovation, in Islam which is forbidden and not accepted.

“The term ‘innovation’ means to invent or make something up. To understand the concept of innovation in Islam, one can imagine a glass of crystal clear water that is meant to quench thirst. Someone adds some colour to it with the intention of making it appear more appealing to the thirsty. Then, another person further adds some sugar to make it tastier. Would you still consider it to be a glass of pure water? Not quite. Now, what you have is an adulterated version of what was formerly water. This is the saga of Islam today. ”  (Boulder of Biddats-Hiba Magazine)

DEFINITION OF BIDAH-INNOVATION

“According to sharee’ah, the definition is ‘Worshipping Allaah in ways that Allaah has not prescribed.’ Or  ‘Worshipping Allaah in ways that are not those of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or his rightly guided successors (al-khulafaa’ al-raashidoon).

CHARACTERISTICS OF BIDAH

So to make it clear, a Bidah is something which  :

1. is An act of worship / a ritual / a religious deed which is not proven from the Quran or Authentic Sunnah

2. Is considered to be a good deed which is a part of Islam

3. Is considered to be source of reward (Ajr o sawab)

4. Apparently there appears to be no harm in doing it as it is a good deed.

5. Is turned into a ritual or general celebration and is considered to be an integral part of Islam.

6. Is sometimes based on weak or fabricated Hadiths which cannot be used as evidence.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

  • Obligatory Prayers are prescribed five times a day. If someone adds another time to it, e.g. 11:00 in the morning and calls is Midday prayer and says I pray six times a day as I want to get more reward- then that sixth prayer is a biddah as this was not done by Rasool Allah.
  • Obligatory and sunnah fajr prayer has two rakats. If someone says we should  pray 6 farz and 6 sunnah  to get more reward as praying as much is  a good deed then this ‘good deed’ is an innovation as Rasool Allah informed us to pray two units only. Two fard and two sunnahs.
  • If someone says, this is the day of Pact of Hudaibiyah, so we should celebrate it, fast on this day and do extra worship as this was such an important day for Rasool Allah and it was so important that it was mentioned in the Quran (Surah Fath) and Allah called it a Clear Victory However  this will be an innovation as Rasool Allah did not do any such thing or celebrate the anniversary of hudaibiyah even though it was mentioned in the Quran and was such an important day.
  • If someone says, this is the day of conquest of Makkah so we should thank Allah as this was such a great day for Rasool Allah and his companions so we should celebrate this day by praying and fasting and making and distributing sweet dishes… then this is an innovation. Why ? because neither our Prophet or his companions ever celebrated the anniversary of the conquest of Makkah- despite the fact it was such a great day for the Muslims!
  • If someone says this is the day of the victory of the battle of Badr, so we should all sit down and recite Quran and do a Quran Khwani to thank Allah for this victory as this was such an important day in the life of Rasool Allah… So clearly this will be an innovation….
  • The Jews said to ‘Umar, “You (i.e. Muslims) recite a Verse, and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken the day of its revelation as a day of celebration.(Al Maidah:3) ” ‘Umar said, “I know very well when and where it was revealed, and where Allah’s Apostle was when it was revealed. (It was revealed on) the day of Arafat (Hajj Day), and by Allah, I was at Arafat”(Bukhari) However as well all know, neither did our Prophet nor his companions took this day of the revelation of this verse as a celebration! If we take it as a celebration, it will be innovation!
  • Reading quran is considered a good deed but reading Quran in sajdah is forbidden . So if anyone says. No no reading Quran is a good deed so i can read it anywhere any time in any mannar i want. But this will be innovation .
  • Hijra of prophet(s.a.w) was a great event. The people of Madina rejoiced and welcomed him warmly and even sang talal badru alayne. So on each anniversary of Hijrah we should do the same! But no never did our Prophet nor his companions ever celebrated the anniversary of Hijrah in their life. If we do so, thinking it will be a good deed – it will be an innovation which will lead to fire.

So similarly there are many practices prevalent in the Muslim world, which are Innovations- Biddats. Some of them are mentioned below.( This list is not exhaustive)

  • Eid Milad un NabiBirthday of Prophet Muhammad s
  • Shab e Mairaj -The Night of Ascension and acts of worship associated to this day
  • Shab e Baraat and acts of worship associated to this day
  • Quran Khwani at death
  • Reading Kalimah on beads at death
  • Reading Surah Yasin a number of times after at the funeral
  • Teeja/Soyem -3rd day of death
  • Barsi-Death Anniversary
  • Chaleeswan – 40th day of death
  • Reading Naats at the body of the dead
  • Writing Kalima on the shroud
  • Reading innovated Durood and Duas
  • Making the Bride go under the Quran
  • Reciting Durood before the Adhan
  • Making congregational dua after every 5 times salah.
  • Speaking out the neah (intention) of salah  by saying e.g. , “I make intention of four rakat fard, for zuhr, for Allah, My face is facing the Qiblah, Allahu Akbar”
  • Reading the innovated dua of the neah (intention) at seher time for fasting.

If someone still prefers to indulge in these biddats saying there is no harm in it, then that means that a new Islam has been created as the original Islam was not good enough! And creating new forms of worships and celebrations means that when the wahi was being revealed Allah did not know that there was reward in this ‘innovated good deed’ (Naaozobillah)  or Allah forgot to tell his Prophet about it (Naaozobillah)   or that Rasool Allah did not understand the commandment (Naaozobillah)  or forgot to tell the ummah about this good deed(Naaozobillah)   or special day and it also means that the Sahaba –companions did  not fully understand the religion (Naaozobillah)   and neither did they fully implement it that is why we find no such actions from them.!! Obviously this is not true, therefore all innovated matters of religion must be abandoned.

Narrated Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet arrived at Medina, the Jews were observing the fast on ‘Ashura’ (10th of Muharram) and they said, “This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh,” On that, the Prophet said to his companions, “You (Muslims) have more right to Celebrate Moses’ victory than they have, so observe the fast on this day.” (Bukhari)

From this hadith it is very clear that Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alayhe wasallam did not leave out ANYTHING in our religion. If some days were special he informed us about it and even suggested the form of worship in it.. like the 10th of Muharram – the day of Ashoora.

Also there is no such thing as Bidah e Hasana (Good Innovation) as Rasool Allah has clearly labelled every innovation as deviation! “Indeed every new thing is an innovation and every innovation is deviation and every deviation leads to fire” ( Sahih Jama Assabir)

Above statement says EVERY BIDDAH (including so called good and bad). Is there any such thing as good hell and a bad hell? A good fire or a bad fire?

People who quote Umar (r) and say that Taraveeh is a good innovation; they are greatly mistaken because the Taraveeh was performed by Rasool Allah (s) for two days in his last Ramadan. However he abandoned it because he was afraid that it may become obligatory. Taraveeh is a nafil (voluntary ) prayer and it is mansoon. It was not innovated by Umar (r) rather he only revived a forgotten Sunnah.

Narrated ‘Aisha, the mother of the faithful believers: One night Allah’s Apostle offered the prayer in the Mosque and the people followed him. The next night he also offered the prayer and too many people gathered. On the third and the fourth nights more people gathered, but Allah’s Apostle did not come out to them. In the morning he said, “I saw what you were doing and nothing but the fear that it (i.e. the prayer) might be made obligatory on you, stopped me from coming to you.” And that happened in the month of Ramadan. (Bukhari)

So taking any other day to be important and special like shab e mairaj , shab e baraat etc or making up new forms of worship Duas and acts and rituals about which Rasool Allah did not inform us or did himself  is clearly innovation –bidah which leads to fire.

BIDAH ANNIHIALATES TRUE SUNNAH

A famous taabiee (the generation after the companions) Hasan bin Atiyyah said : “No people introduced an innovation into  religion except that an equivalent sunnah is taken away from them” [Ad-Daarimee with saheh isnaad]

This is so true! People have given so much importance to certain innovated practices that the true sunnah has been pushed behind and forgotten.

People celebrate the innovated Shab-e-Baraat with great fervour and pray all night long but sadly the greatest night of all Shab e Qadr which can fall in any odd nights of Ramadan and which also includes chand raat is spent in traffic jams and malls for last minute shopping for Eid. People also neglect the true sunnah of Shabaan by focusing only on the 15th of Shabaan whereas the Prophet used to fast the most in the first fifteen days of Shabaan and forbade his Ummah from fasting from 15th onwards. And

BIDDAH IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN SINS

Sufyan ath-Thawree said: “Innovation is more pleasing to iblees than sin, since a person makes repentance from but does not repent from innovations!”

This is because he regards the innovation as being something good for which he receives reward from Allah and therefore will not repent from it, whereas he who commits a sin knows that it is wrong and Inshallah will repent from it.

So taking any other day to be important and special like shab e mairaj , shab e baraat etc or making up new forms of worship Duas and acts and rituals about which Rasool Allah did not inform us or did himself  is clearly innovation –bidah which leads to fire.

WARNINGS OF ALLAH

We should be aware of Allah’s warning that, “

O you who have believed, do not go beyond Allah and His Messenger but fear Allah . Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.(Quran 49:1)

So is it other than the religion of Allah they desire??(Quran 3:83)

And whoever desires other than Islam as religion – never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.(Quran 3:85)

It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error. (Quran 33:36)

WARNINGS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD sallalahu Alayhe Wasallam AGAINST INNOVATIONS

“I urge you to adhere to my way (Sunnah) and the way of the rightly-guided successors (al-khulafa’ al-raashidoon) who come after me. Hold fast to it and bite onto it with your eyeteeth [i.e., cling firmly to it], and beware of newly-invented matters.”

“Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours (Islam) that is not part of it will have it rejected.” (Bukhaari, Muslim)

“Indeed every new thing is an innovation and every innovation is deviation and every deviation leads to fire” ( Sahih Jama Assabir)

Allah Tala does not accept the repentance of an innovator until he quits doing the innovated things.” (Sahih At Targhib wa Tarhib)

“I will be at my pond from before and some of you will be brought in front of me and then they will be removed from in front of me. So I will ask  Oh My Lord, these are my people! But I will be told; you don’t know about the new things they innovated after you” (Bukhari)

“The person who innovated something new in our religion which is not a part of our religion ,will be shunned and rejected .” (Bukhari)

CELEBRATING NON-MUSLIM FESTIVALS

Celebrating Non-Muslim Festivals is also not allowed in Islam as it comes under following the Kuffar as Prophet Muhammad s has said:

Narrated By Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri : The Prophet said, “You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit ( i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure(a kind of lizard), you would follow them.” We said, “O Allah’s Apostle! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians ?” He said, “Whom else?” (Bukhari: Vol 009, Book 092, Hadith 422.)

Narrated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, “The Hour will not be established till my followers copy the deeds of the previous nations and follow them very closely, span by span, and cubit by cubit ( i.e., inch by inch).” It was said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Do you mean by those (nations) the Persians and the Romans?” The Prophet said, “Who can it be other than they?”

Some of them are:

  • Birthdays
  • Anniversaries
  • Mother’s day, father’s day
  • Valentine’s Day
  • Engagement
  • Mehendi
  • Christmas
  • Easter
  • Halloween
  • Dewali
  • Basant

I thought I couldn’t live without ‘music’…

There was a time when I wouldn’t leave the house without my discman. My harddisk was filled with Mbs of music files…you name the song and i had it. My room was filled with cassettes and cds. MTV was one of my favourite channels and I even had my favourite videos recorded!

Then I heard a cassette  ‘From The Shadows’ by Halaqah media (Available here) and i got scared..really really scared. Amongst other issues, this documentary discussed how satanic subliminal messages were found in many pop songs and and the singers were actually worshipping and calling out to satan through their music. It gave examples of songs from Madonna and Eagles.

In Madonna’s song “Like a Prayer” it is not God that the prayer is directed at, but Satan. When played backwards, the words “0h hear us, Satan,” are clearly audible, one of my favourite songs by Eagles Hotel California also was an ode to satan  and when played backwords you can hear a spooky voice  say ‘yaaay satan’ and if you know about the rituals of ‘Free Masons’ you will realize that its a song about  visiting a Free Masonic lodge. To be honest the song always sounded spooky to me!

I did a lot of research on the internet and found that satanic messages in songs were very common and these messages do actually have an impact on your subconciousness. For days I couldn’t sleep. The satanic voices kept going round and round in my head. then I stopped listening to music completely.

This went on for some time, I dont remember exactly how long….there was a void and then i started swaying towards music again. satan made me think up of a lot of justificationa and excuses like… oh i only listen to nice people they dont have such things in their songs.. oh its only heavy metal that has satanic messages, i listen to pop and ballads.. i dont listen to madonna  and micheal jackson.. etc etc…. I couldn’t live without music… i said…and music was back in my life with a bang! My collection restarted and soon i had all my favourite  songs loaded on my harddisk.. music was playing all the time on my pc even while i was studying and sometimes even sleeping…When i went to Uk for studies, my laptop had my entire music collection. My Australian flatmate was quite surprised to see my music collection! It had  her favourite songs too!

Then i came back after completing my studies in 2006 and ramadan was about to start. During ramadan my mother dragged me to listen to the explanation of the Quran. Quran entered my life and i started studying it regularly by joining a course.

I started realizing why Music was haram. It took me away from the remembrance of Allah , it took me away from the Quran. If i listened to Music, even during my Salah (prayer) the song would be going on in my head. I would be physically praying but my heart and mind were not! early in the morning the first thing on my lips would be songs… not Allah’s name.I started seeing the shirk in songs and the open delcarations of disobedience to Allah   in all the romantic songs, ballads and love songs .

‘Everything I do, i do it for you’  (Bryan Adams) – Everything for WHO?

‘Il do anything for you…anything you want me too.’-(BSB) I’ll do ANYTHING?

“Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): “Verily, my Salat (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are forAllah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin”

(Quran 6:162)

My Everything is supposed to be for Allah..not any human being! What am i saying.. what am i singing..open obscenity and declarations of love…If i dont mean them then why should i say these words and sing them or listen to them! every word I utter is being recorded by the angles …what explanation will i give for these songs!

I started avoiding music …

Then discussions started ,is music haram or halal? People would say…. Music is not haram. Its not in Quran… we pray we remeber Allah but we listen to songs as well and we can  concentrate in our prayers… etc etc…Music does not interfere in our worship… we only listen when we are busy in work.. etc etc… there is no harm in listening to nice music… etc etc…

I came across a hadith in Sahih Al Bukhari in which our Prophet Muhammad (s) said : “From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful.(Sahih Al Bukhari)

This was the final blow!

So people who are justifying listening to music are the ones this hadith is talking about. From this saying of Prophet Muhammad (s) it is clear that Music is haram. Anybody who disagrees and brings in ifs and buts.. is fulfulling this prophecy of Prophet Muhammad (s) that his followers will one day make musical instruments halal for themselves!Just to make things clear – only one instrument -The Daff is allowed in Islam.

I stopped listening to Music. but for how long….?They say Music is the food for the soul.I realized my soul still needed some ‘music’ . I could’nt live without ‘music’…and i was right..but i was feeding my soul with the wrong kind of music. My soul wanted the ‘divine music’.The divine music of the Qur’an

I started listening to various different recitors and some surahs recited by some qaris was the most beautiful thing i had ever heard. It was far beyond what i had ever heard. The beauty of the words, the peace it gives and the divine rythm of Allah’s words was truly amazing and it is indescribeable.

I realized that the first time i stopped listening to music, there was a void so i went back on the path of shaytan. But the second time around the craving of my soul for music was satisfied in the halal way with halal divine music of the Quran. As one has rightly said,Moseqe khabees rooh ki ghiza hai – Music is the food of the wretched soul. The real tayyab food of the good soul is the Qur’an.

Before I  used to make a list of my top ten favourite songs..but now i want to share with you all a list of my top ten favourite surahs by my favourite qaris. Please do listen to the beautiful recitations!! I have listed them 1-10 but to be honest all of them are just great, beautiful and amazing…

1. Surah Al-Insaan by Mishary Rashid Al Afasi-mp3

2. Surah Al-Bayyinah by Mishary Rashid Al Afasi-mp3

3. Surah Al Kahaf by Mishary Rashid Al Afasi-mp3

4. Surah Yasin by a young child Hasan Bin Abdullah(link to youtube video)

5. Ayatul Kursi by Saad Al Ghamdi ( link to youtube video)

7. Al-Anam by Saad Al Ghamdi-mp3: This is a long surah.Listen to its first part which is beautifully recited.

8. Hud by Saad Al Ghamdi-mp3

9. Maryam by Saad Al Ghamdi-mp3

10. Al Haqqah by Hani Rafai-mp3

I usually don’t blog about my personal life, but now i think i should.. maybe somebody will learn something from my life and change their life for good and make Allah happy. I don’t  mean to show off with this post, may Allah purify my intentions ..I realized that Music is such an emotional subject.. people just get into arguments and long debates because they just find it impossible to leave music, just like i did. I thought it was impossible…. but it is.

So all those of  you who think and say that you can’t live without music. Think again. There is halal music and there is haram music. All you have to do is change  your taste. Don’t satisfy your soul with haram when the most beautiful halal music is available….Listen to the Quran, listen to halal nasheeds with beautiful lyrics and no musical instruments.. change your taste,, there is a lot of good halal music out there and the best of it is the Qur’an!!

The Flogging Punishment In Islam for Fornication

Allah Almighty says in the Quran:

“The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allaah, if you believe in Allaah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment” [al-Noor 24:2]

“And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses – lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient, ” [An-Noor 24:4]

  • Hudd punishment – The fixed punishment – is prescribed by Allah  for those acts which Allah has made haram and this punishment is by hitting or by killing.
  • The fixed punishment for fornication (consensual sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other ) is flogging a 100 strikes. As for adultery ( voluntary sexual intercourse between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and someone other than her husband) – the married person would be stoned to death as commanded by Prophet Muhammad (s)
  • The punishment is applicable when the man has coitus with the woman. Any relationship not inclusive of coitus does not mandate the prescribed fixed punishment.
  • The punishment is applicable when the act of coitus is witnessed by four male adults who are muslim, sensible, just and free  and who testify in the court. Seeing two people together or nude or in some inappropriate position does not mandate the hudd punishment unless the act of coitus is eye witnessed.
  • The punishment is also applicable if the fornicator or the fornicatress confesses to his or her crime four times.
  • 100 flogs can be inflicted in one day or over a period of days depending on the health of the one being punished.
  • No judge can increase or decrease the punishment
  • Punishment has to be delivered publicly in front of a small group of Muslims – minimum three and maximum 1000 Muslims should witness this event.
  • Flogging should be inflicted with a leather whip which is neither totally new nor very old. Flogging with a stick is not allowed
  • Flogging should be on the fleshy part of the body only affecting the skin and avoiding the head and the sensitive areas. Flogging has to spread over – and should not be done in one place so as to make the flesh come out.
  • A man is flogged in a standing position while a woman should be flogged in a sitting position.
  • Ibn Mas’ood said:  It is not prescribed in our religion to make the offender lie down or to tie him up or remove his clothing. The companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) flogged offenders but there is no report that any of them made the offender lie down or tied him up or removed his clothing. (Islam QA)
  • No one should carry out the hadd punishments without the permission of the ruler. If there is no ruler who rules according to sharee’ah then it is not permissible for the ordinary people to carry out the hadd punishments. Whoever does that is sinning, because carrying out the hadd punishments requires examining the matter and requires shar’i knowledge in order to know the conditions of proof. (Islam QA)
  • Accepting this punishment is conditional to Emaan – If you feel pity for the fornicator or fornicatress  – that may lead to not approving the flogging punishment then you don’t believe in Allah and the Akhira ( You leave the fold of Islam)

PUNISHMENT OF FORNICATION AS IMPLEMENT BY RASOOL ALLAH (S) AND HIS COMPANIONS

Bukhari :: Book 8 :: Volume 82 :: Hadith 818

Narrated Zaid bin Khalid Al-Jihani:

I heard the Prophet ordering that an unmarried person guilty of illegal sexual intercourse be flogged one-hundred stripes and be exiled for one year. Umar bin Al-Khattab also exiled such a person, and this tradition is still valid.

FLOGGING THE ONE WHO CONFESSES AND LETTING GO THE ONE WHO  DENIES THE SIN
Dawud :: Book 38 : Hadith 4423

Narrated Sahl ibn Sa’d:

A man came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and confessed before him that he had committed fornication with a woman whom he named. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) sent for the woman and asked her about it. But she denied that she had committed fornication. So he inflicted the prescribed punishment of flogging on him, and let her go.

FLOGGING WHEN THE SINNER CONFESSES AND DOES NOT RETRACT IT
Malik :: Book 41 : Hadith 41.2.13

Malik related to me from Nafi that Safiyya bint Abi Ubayd informed him that a man who had had intercourse with a virgin slave-girl and made her pregnant was brought to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. He confessed to fornication, and he was not muhsan. Abu Bakr gave the order and he was flogged with the hadd punishment. Then he was banished to Fadak, (thirty miles from Madina).

Malik spoke about a person who confessed to fornication and then retracted it and said, “I didn’t do it. I said that for such-and-such a reason,” and he mentioned the reason. Malik said, “That is accepted from him and the hadd is not imposed on him. That is because the hadd is what is for Allah, and it is only applied by one of two means, either by a clear proof which establishes guilt or by a confession which is persisted in so that the hadd is imposed. If someone persists in his confession, the hadd is imposed on him.”

NO FLOGGING PUNISHMENT FOR THE RAPE VICTIM
Malik :: Book 41 : Hadith 41.3.15

Malik related to me from Nafi that a slave was in charge of the slaves in the khumus and he forced a slave-girl among those slaves against her will and had intercourse with her. Umar ibn al-Khattab had him flogged and banished him, and he did not flog the slave-girl because the slave had forced her.

NO FLOGGING IF THE SINNER IS TOO WEAK AND COULD DIE WHILE BEING FLOGGED
Muslim :: Book 17 : Hadith 4224

Abd al-Rahman reported that ‘Ali, while delivering the address said: O people, impose the prescribed punishment upon your slaves, those who are married and those not married, for a slave-woman belonging to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) had committed adultery, and he committed me to flog her. But she had recently given birth to a child and I was afraid that if I flogged her I might kill her. So I mentioned that to Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) and he said: You have done well.

Raising of Hands – Rafulyadain

Sahih Bukhari

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 704:

Narrated Abu Qilaba:

I saw Malik bin Huwairith saying Takbir and raising both his hands (on starting the prayers and raising his hands on bowing and also on raising his head after bowing. Malik bin Huwairith said, “Allah’s Apostle did the same.”

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 705:

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar:

I saw Allah’s Apostle opening the prayer with the Takbir and raising his hands to the level of his shoulders at the time of saying the Takbir, and on saying the Takbir for bowing he did the same; and when he said, “Sami a-l-lahu Liman hamida “, he did the same and then said, “Rabbana wa laka-l-hamd.” But he did not do the same on prostrating and on lifting the head from it.”

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 706:

Narrated Nafi’:

Whenever Ibn ‘Umar started the prayer with Takbir, he used to raise his hands: whenever he bowed, he used to raise his hands (before bowing) and also used to raise his hands on saying, “Sami a-l-lahu Liman hamida”, and he used to do the same on rising from the second Rak’a (for the 3rd Rak’a). Ibn ‘Umar said: “The Prophet used to do the same.”

Sahih Muslim

Book 004, Number 0759:

Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), when he stood up for prayer, used to raise his hands apposite the shoulders and then recited takbir (Allah-o-Akbar), and when he was about to bow he again did like it and when he raised himself from the ruku’ (bowing posture) he again did like it, but he did not do it at the time of raising his head from prostration.

Book 004, Number 0762:

Malik b. Huwairith reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) raised his hands apposite his ears at the time of reciting the takbir (i. e. at the time of beginning the prayer) and then again raised his hands apposite the ears at the time of bowing and when he lifted his head after bowing he said: Allah listened to him who praised Him, and did like it (raised his hands up to the ears).

Muwatta Imam Malik

Book 3, Number 3.5.21:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah that Abdullah ibn Umar used to say “Allah is greater” in the prayer whenever he lowered himself and raised himself.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders when he began the prayer and when he raised his head from the ruku he would raise them less than that.

Book 3, Number 3.5.17:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to raise his hands to the level of his shoulders when he began the prayer and when he raised his head from the ruku he raised them in the same way, saying, “Allah hears whoever praises him, our Lord and praise belongs to You.” He did not raise them in the sujud.

Book 3, Number 3.5.18:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that AIi ibn Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib said, “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say, ‘Allah is greater’ whenever he lowered himself and raised himself, and he continued to pray like that until he met Allah.”

Abu Dawood

Narrated Wa’il ibn Hujr:

I purposely looked at the prayer of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him), how he offered it. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) stood up, faced the direction of the qiblah and uttered the takbir (Allah is most great) and then raised his hands in front of his ears, then placed his right hand on his left (catching each other).

When he was about to bow, he raised them in the same manner. He then placed his hands on his knees. When he raised his head after bowing, he raised them in the like manner. When he prostrated himself he placed his forehead between his hands.

He then sat down and spread his left foot and placed his left hand on his left thigh, and kept his right elbow aloof from his right thigh. He closed his two fingers and made a circle (with the fingers).

I (Asim ibn Kulayb) saw him (Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal) say in this manner. Bishr made the circle with the thumb and the middle finger and pointed with the forefinger.

Book 3, Number 0743:

Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib:

When the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) stood for offering the obligatory prayer, he uttered the takbir (Allah is most great) and raised his hands opposite to his shoulders; and he did like that when he finished recitation (of the Qur’an) and was about to bow; and he did like that when he rose after bowing; and he did not raise his hands in his prayer while he was in his sitting position.

When he stood up from his prostrations (at the end of two rak’ahs), he raised his hands likewise and uttered the takbir (Allah is most great) and raised his hands so as to bring them up to his shoulders, as he uttered the takbir in the beginning of the prayer.

Placing of Hands

Sahih Bukhari

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 771:

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaina:

Whenever the Prophet used to offer prayer he used to keep arms away (from the body) so that the whiteness of his armpits was visible.

Sahih Muslim

Book 004, Number 0792:

Wa’il b. Hujr reported: He saw the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) raising his hands at the time of beginning the prayer and reciting takbir, and according to Hammam (the narrator), the hands were lifted opposite to ears. He (the Holy Prophet) then wrapped his hands in his cloth and placed his right hand over his left hand. And when he was about to bow down, he brought out his hands from the cloth, and then lifted them, and then recited takbir and bowed down and when (he came back to the erect position) he recited:” Allah listened to him who praised Him.” And when prostrates. He prostrated between the two palms.

Abu Dawood

Book 3, Number 0756:

Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib:

Jarir ad-Dabbi reported: I saw Ali (Allah be pleased with him) catching hold of his left hand) by his right hand on the wrist above the navel.

Book 3, Number 0758:

Narrated Tawus:

The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to place his right hand on his left hand, then he folded them strictly on his chest in prayer.

Saying Ameen Louder

Sahih Bukhari

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Apostle said, “When the Imam says: ‘Ghair-il-Maghdubi ‘Alaihim Walad-Dallin (i.e. not the path of those who earn Your Anger, nor the path of those who went astray (1.7)), then you must say, ‘Ameen’, for if one’s utterance of ‘Ameen’ coincides with that of the angels, then his past sins will be forgiven.”

Sayings of Our Imams

  1. “When a hadeeth is found to be saheeh, then that is my madhhab.”
  2. “When I say something contradicting the Book of Allaah the Exalted or what is narrated from the Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), then ignore my saying.”

“Truly I am only a mortal: I make mistakes (sometimes) and I am correct (sometimes). Therefore, look into my opinions: all that agrees with the Book and the Sunnah accept it; and all that does not agree with the Book and the Sunnah, ignore it.”

“If you find in my writings something different to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), then speak on the basis of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), and leave what I have said.”

“The opinion of Awzaa’i, the opinion of Maalik, the opinion of Abu Haneefah: all of it is opinion, and it is all equal in my eyes. However, the proof is in the narrations (from the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and his Companions).”

OPINION

A lot has been said on this topic. We have to look at the last action of our prophet (S.A.W) and the companions around him during the last period with him (S.A.W). Imam Malik, Imam Shafai, Imam Ahmed are in favour of raising of hands during takbeer of bowing and rising from bowing. That mean 3/4  of the imams are of the same opinion and Imam Bukahri, Imam Muslim, Imam Tirmdhi, Imam Abu Dawood follow the same opinion as well. Shah Waliullah has given a fatwa in favour of raising the hands.

People, who says that, “it was allowed in the beginning but it was canceled because people use to bring idols in masjid and hide them under their armpits.” Their saying is totally baseless. It has no proof in Sahih Books. Idols were in Mecca not in Medina. In Medina, munafiqeen were creating problems not idols. And the Masjid was built in Medina. Also how is it possible to do other acts of the prayer while having an idol under the armpit? Doing sajdah and ruku would be impossible with an idol under the armpit. How can this not be  applied in the first Takbir of entering salah.

If you listen to such a thing again, ask that person from where you are quoting? Can you tell me the source of your talk from Sahih Books? Ask him to quote even, any weak hadith which says that now it is munsukh?

Secondly the hadiths which are found in both Bukhari and Muslim are called Mutafiq Alhe. This means, “It is the highest level authority in terms of sanad and text of hadith, which can not be rejected.”  Hadith of raising the hands are found both in Bukahri and Muslim, it means, it is Mutafiq Alhe. Bukhari, Muslim, Muwatta are considered first category of hadith books. Abu Dawood is considered among the second category in the book of hadith.

Why is our new ruler worst than his predecessor?

The situation of Pakistan has gone from bad to worst since our new president came into office. It seems he is no better than the previous one and is infact the worst thing that could have happened to Pakistan.

The question is why? Why are all our leaders, politicians,MNAs MPAs corrupt? Why do they cheat and lie and are only interested in filling their bank accounts? Are politicians the only such breed of Pakistanis with no morals or principles?

The answer is no!

Majority of the Pakistanis – I would say 95% of Pakistanis are corrupt, selfish, liars and cheaters and would not leave any opportunity to cheat and fool others so that they can fill their own pockets.. Yes I am a 100% Pakistani and I am not afraid to admit that we as nation have failed and we as a nation have no morals or principles.

Go to a shop, and if you are not on your guard, the shopkeeper will give you less change and it is usually the ladies who are the victims. Once a shop keeper tried to cheat me of 500 hundered rupees. I asked him three times to count and he kept insisting that this was the right amount. It was only when my brother came in that he admitted his mistake.

Go out shopping and you might be given less cloth than what you paid for or will sell you a cheaper quality cloth while swearing that they have the “pure” top quality cloth…

Buy some fruits and vegetables and if you don’t check, you’ll end up with rotten fruit and vegetables instead of the fresh ones displayed on the thaila. Oh and don’t expect you’ll get the right weight which you paid for…

Call a plumber or an electrician to your home to fix things and they will ask for exorbant amounts! Once a plumber was called and he asked for 500 rupees to change the leaking faucet. The other plumber was called and he charged only 20.

If you have ever had the experience of getting a house constructed, you would know what I am talking about. With a such a project you need to deal with masons, plumbers, electricians, laborers, carpenters, etc etc and it should be enough to make your blood boil.. When my mother and brother were getting the house constructed while my father was abroad, trust me every one who got the chance cheated… the wood would vanish from the house, the cement would always be running out, the electricians would not come on time, wrong bathroom fittings were sent and what not!

Go to get any official work done and you will be openly asked to pay bribes before your work/application can proceed. Individuals in their office would take advantage of and misuse office supplies, telephone, stationery etc

Bribery, theft, cell phone snatching, car snatching – all these crimes are increasing day by day.

What a sorry picture of our nation. Whether it be a poor thaila wala or a shop wala , a simple looking electrician, an office worker , a government official or a rich bureaucrat – everyone in their own capacity wants to take undue advantage or cheat others so they can fill their pockets or make some additional profit! Basic qualities like honesty, sincerity, selflessness, punctuality, loyalty are no where to be seen

Prophet Muhammad (s) said regarding the relation between the rulers and the ruled:

As you are, so will be the rulers that will be set over you” (Mishkaat).

So corrupt leaders and politicians should not  come as a surprise to us., they are just a reflection of the citizens. If we want change, if we want justice, if we want loyal sincere and honest leaders we will have to clean up our own act first.

27th August 2 Moons : Myths Vs Facts

Myth : On 27th of August this year there will be two Moons in the sky at night.

Fact: This is NOT TRUE.

The Myth seems to have generated due to a HUGE misunderstanding about an astronomical event that occurred in 2003. Planet Mars came very close to Earth and was visible with the naked eye as a bright star and in the telescope when magnified looked as big as the Moon. As reported in Sky and Telescope:

August 27th” is actually August 27, 2003. Mars did make a historically close pass by Earth at that time, and when magnified 75 times in a telescope, it looked (IN THE TELESCOPE) the size the Moon looks to the unaided eye.”

Some people obviously misunderstood this and thought that Mars will be as big as the moon and thus there will be two moons in the sky! Mars no matter how close it comes to Earth can NEVER EVER appear like the moon. Since the year 2003 the emails and smses have been circulation to view the historical astronomical event of two moons in the sky!

So Please make it very clear that there will NOT be two moons in the sky on 27th August this year or any other year. Mars does pass very close to Earth in thousands of years but no matter what, it can never be as big as the Moon in the sky!

Myth:The last sign of Qayamat (Day of Judegement) is that there will be two moons in the sky and BBC has predicted that on 27th Aug,07 there will be two moons in the sky and this is time when Imam Mehdi will arrive. It is in the Quran that after this last sign, the repentance will not be accepted.

Fact: THIS IS NOT TRUE AT ALL

The last sign of Qayamat (Day of Judgement) is NOT 2 Moons. There never is any such sign. No 2 Moon sign has been mentioned in the Quran or the hadith.

As I mentioned in the previous point, the Two Moon myth came into existence in the year 2003 due to a huge misunderstanding regarding a historical close pass of Mars from Earth.

The real last sign of the Day of Judegement is that Sun will rise from west on Earth which is mentioned in the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (saw)

I hope this clears up the huge confusion regarding the Two Moons on 27th August. Please stop forwarding this hoax if you receive it in your email or sms. It is a sin to spread news and rumors without verifying it first! Start spreading the truth about the hoax now.

Afia Siddiqui : Her picture speaks a thousand words…

Afia Siddiqui Now

Afia Siddiqui Now

Look closely at the two pictures above. Is the picture below really of the same woman? This picture is haunting me, it is telling me stories about the pain and suffering and the torture this Muslim Woman – My Sister in Islam has been through in the past five years of her life.

Aafia Siddiqui is a Pakistani who graduated from MIT. In 2003, while on her way in a taxi with her three young sons, she disappeared never to be heard of again until recently when she was found in US Custody and the US claimed that they arrested her on 17th July in Afghanistan.[7]

Her Crime :

Aafia Siddiqui allegedly yelled “allahu akbar” and grabbed a soldier’s rifle and fired two shots before she was shot herself in the July 18 incident.Despite being shot, Siddiqui struggled with the officers when they tried to subdue her; she struck and kicked them while shouting in English that she wanted to kill Americans[7]

For her crime she was presented before the court in New York on the 5th of August and her trial is underway in USA.

She is thought to be the ghost lady, the only woman prisoner No. 650 imprisoned in Afghanistan.[1][2] Reports tell of the horrendous trials she went through there screaming and crying all night long.[3] Reports suggest that she was severly tortured, one of her kidneys was removed, her teeth were removed, her nose was broken and improperly set and her recent gun shot wound was oozing blood constantly.[4] He picture testifies to this harsh reality which the US is trying to hide, stating that she was in hiding since the past five years.

Knowing the history of Abuse of the prisoners of Abu Gharib by the Americans, i don’t even want to imagine what she must have gone through there being a woman. It was reported that she was constantly raped and abused, forced to use mens toilets and forced to eat non halal food.

Shame on me. Sleeping comfortably in my home eating and having fun. Living a comfortable life while my Muslim sister is being raped and tortured by the American dogs! Shame on all our leaders and all the Muslims. When will we wake up from our slumber. All our time and efforts are for what? Earning wealth, living luxuriously. Eating, drinking and partying.

There is nothing else in the life of our Muslim youth but”chilling out and having fun” and trying to BE AMERICAN! wanting their way of life, dressing up like they dress up, watching movies they make, doing things they do! When will we open our eyes and realize their deception that they are our enemies! WHEN? When it happens to us personally or to our very own mothers and sisters and daughters?

Look at the picture again. Her story is not to be read, to just feel pity and to be eventually forgotten. It has given me a lot to think about. The deception of the west and their full efforts to make us despise our own religion – to make us into “moderate” Muslims – Just Muslims by name and not in deed and actions. Their fake cries of liberation of women when they can not even respect women. Their glossed up lifestyle and cries of freedeom of expression when they can not even let us practice and preach our own faith.

Look at her picture? It gives a lot to think about and a lot to do. What does it give you?

Facts VS Misconceptions about Shabaan

By Javeria

FACT : The most involuntary fasts (nafil fasts) kept by Rasool Allah sallalahu alayhe wasallam were in the month of shabaan.

A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) did not observe fast in any month of the year more than in the month of Sha’ban, and used to say: Do as many deeds as you are capable of doing, for Allah will not become weary (of giving you reward), but you would be tired (of doing good deeds) ; and he also said: The deed liked most by Allah is one to which the doer adheres constantly even if it is small.( Muslim :: Book 6 : Hadith 2582 )

MISCONCEPTION: Fasting on 15th of Shaban is a deed of great reward.

FACT: Fasting ONLY on 15th of Shabaan is an innovation and not according to the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Thus should be totally avoided. Fasting frequently in Shabaan was the Sunnah of Rasool Allah However; Rasool prohibited his ummah from fasting after 15th of Shabaan due to fear of becoming too weak to be able to fast in Ramadan.

Rasool Allah Sallaalahu alayhe Wasallam said : “When half of shaban has passed, do not fast” (Abu Dawood Bab 12: Hadith  2337- Classed Hasan Sahih by Albani)

Therefore the Muslims should fast frequently in the first half of Shabaan and avoid fasting in the second half of Shabaan.

MISCONCEPTION: Shab e Baraat i.e. the 15th of Shabaan is a Special Night for prayers in Islam.

FACT: There is no such thing as Shab e Baraat. Word Shab e Baraat never appears in the Quran or Hadith. Shab e Baraat is infact NOT an Arabic Word.

Shab e Barat is actually Persian for lailatul qadr:
The night on which the Quran was revealed is termed “Lailatul Qadr” in Surah al Qadr in the Quran. When Lailtul Qadr is translated in Persian Language : Lailatul became Shabb and Qadr became “Baraat”. Thus Shab e Baraat is the Persian translation of Lailatul Qadr.

This is the night on which Quran was revealed, it is a night of great blessing and it falls in the last 10 days of Ramadan. Thus there is no reality in celebrating the night of 15th of sha’baan, because Shab e Baraat actually falls in Ramadan.

(Reference:Translation of Tafsir Surah Dukhaan, Taiseer ul Quran , Vol 4, pg. 176 by Molana Abdul Rehman Kelani.)

MISCONCEPTION: On this blessed night Allah Tala descends down to forgive people

FACT: Allah Tala descends down EVERY night to forgive the people who repent.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Apostle said, “When it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, descends every night to the heaven of the world and says, ‘Is there anyone who invokes Me (demand anything from Me), that I may respond to his invocation; Is there anyone who asks Me for something that I may give (it to) him; Is there anyone who asks My forgiveness that I may forgive him?’ “Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 75, Number 333:

MISCONCEPTION: This is the blessed night on which the taqdeer is decided. Who will live…who will die. Who will get how much rizq…

The following verses of the Quran are presented as evidence  stating that this verse is talking about a blessed night on which everything is decreed and that night is 15th of Shaban.

Veriy We Sent it down on a blessed night Verily,We are ever warning (3) There in is decreed every matter of ordainments(4) As a Command from Us. Verily, We are ever sending , (5)(As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is theAll-Hearer, the All-Knower. (6)

Surah Dukhaan Chapter 44 Verse 4

FACT: The verse is being misquoted.
This Verse is about a Night in Ramadan NOT Shab e Baraat. The verse is talking about revelation of Quran on a blessed Night. Read the first 2 ayats of Surah Dukhaan again!

Indeed we sent IT (i.e. The Quran) on a blessed Night (Lailtul Qadr in Ramadan)

Allah has informed us in Surah Baqarah that the Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan.

شَہۡرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ

The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an.( Surah Al Baqarah. Chapter 2:185)

So which night is Surah Dukhaan talking about? It is indeed Lailatul Qadr of Ramadan

The night of revelation of Quran in Ramadan is none other than Lailtul Qadr.

On Lialatul Qadr… angels descend and taqdeer is decided.. not on 15th Shabaan. Proof is in Surah Qadr

Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. (1) And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?(2) The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months(3) The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.(4) Peace it is until the emergence of dawn(5)(Quran  97: Surah Qadr)

Lailtul Qadr is the night on which decree is decided.

Please re-read verse four: “On that night is made distinct every precise matter.”

This is the verse which is talking about deciding of fate. and in Surah Qadr, the name itself is self explanatory, ” Qadr” – Taqdeer” The night of decree – \decree means “to decide”

also Allah says in this surah Qadr:
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for EVERY MATTER.

Please visit the following link and read the tafsir of Surah Qadr from Tafsir Ibn Kathir.

http://www.tafsir.com/default.asp?sid=97&tid=58835

And we all know that Laitul Qadr isa night which falls in the odd nights of last 10 days of Ramadan. So the Night of Decree is NOT 15th Shabaan but Lailatul Qadr.

MISCONCEPTION : Souls of the dead visit the earth and therefore one should go to cemeteries.

FACT: Once a person dies, if the soul is good, it is sent to IleeYeen and if it is bad it is sent down to Sijeyeen. There is a barzakh / a barrier between the souls and this world and they can never ever return to this world or contact us.

Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allâh), he says: “My Lord! Send me back, (99) “So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!” No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.(Surah Mominoon -100)

Is God Biased Towards The Females?

By Javeria

Affected by the false propaganda of the feminists, many Muslim women have started thinking that Islam is good for the men and that the rules and regulations of Islam are unfair to the women and that Islam is nothing but subjugation of women. This mentality has led to many women turning away from Islam and keeping this negative feeling that Allah is biased towards the females.

Regarding this issue I previously wrote an article: Why God created Two Genders.

This is the second article in which I want to clarify that Allah is not biased or unfair towards the women. Yes he created man and woman different therefore both have some specific rules which they have to follow. But the end result, the reward for both of them is equal….

Male and Female were both created for a specific role and purpose in this world. But to Allah, gender does not matter and Heaven is for both men and women.

Allah says:

“The men and women of the believers are friends of one another. They command what is right and forbid what is wrong, and establish prayer and pay alms, and obey Allah and His Messenger. They are the people on whom Allah will have mercy. Allah is Almighty, All Wise.” (Qur’an, 9:71)

Allah emphasizes that believers will be rewarded in the same manner according to their deeds, regardless of their gender.

“Their Lord responds to them: ‘I will not let the deeds of any doer among you go to waste, male or female – you are both the same in that respect…” (Qur’an, 3:195)

“Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life and We will recompense them according to the best of what they did.” (Qur’an, 16:97)

“Men and women who are Muslims, men and women who are believers, men and women who are obedient, men and women who are truthful, men and women who are steadfast, men and women who are humble, men and women who give alms, men and women who fast, men and women who guard their private parts, men and women who remember Allah much: Allah has prepared forgiveness for them and an immense reward.” (Qur’an, 33:35)

Before Islam, women were treated as property having no rights and no say. Islam liberated the women and gave them rights and a respectful status. Allah Tala revealed a whole chapter in the Quran called An-Nisa ( Women) dealing with rights and issues of women. He did not reveal a surah called Rijaal (Men). Islam gave so much respect and rights to women that some non Muslims after reading the Quran thought that it was written by a woman. That is why many women are converting to Islam.

NBC News video reveals that 20,000 Americans reported converted to Islam last year, with women exceeding men at a ratio of 4 to 1.

In Europe as well, more women are being drawn to Islam and converting. (See : Csmonitor)

One famous example is of Yvonne Ridley:

“Yvonne Ridley was the journalist captured by the Taliban while reporting undercover in Afghanistan, soon after 9/11. Held on spying charges, she feared she would be stoned. Instead, she was treated with respect. She promised her captors that, after her release, she would study Islam. She read the Koran looking for an explanation of the Taliban’s treatment of women, only to find there wasn’t any. “It’s a magna carta (charter of rights) for women!” she said. (Source : BBC)

What does Ridley feel about the place of women in Islam?

“There are oppressed women in Muslim countries, but I can take you up the side streets of Tyneside and show you oppressed women there.”

“Oppression is cultural, it is not Islamic. The Koran makes it crystal clear that women are equal.”

And her new Muslim dress is empowering, she says.

“How liberating is it to be judged for your mind and not the size of your bust or length of your legs.”(Source : BBC interview)

In Islam there is no such thing as a “man’s world” or a “woman’s world”; it is for both where both have been sent to help each other and provide companionship to each to other. Both have been sent in this world as a test and they will both be rewarded or punished in the hereafter according to their deeds and actions in this world.

There are many people and even Muslims who regularly consult astrology columns, ask each other their astrological signs and regularly read their horoscopes in magazines or online.

Yet astrology is a system which rests entirely on belief that stars and planets are gods.

Many of these people consider themselves modern educated and literate and yet they are fond of reading horoscopes. However if you ask them why they read horoscopes? They would say “We don’t believe them but we just read them for fun” This is just like knowing a person about whom you know that he constantly lies and fibs and misleads yet you regularly go to him and ask him for advice! This is nothing but insanity and stupidity!

The Origin of Astrology

Belief that stars and planets can influence our lives “Comes from Babylonian times, when the seven moving heavenly bodies, (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) were believed to be GODS roaming in the sky. To this day the planets still carry the names of ancient gods. These gods were thought to interact with mysterious star patterns that were apparently fixed on the Celestial Sphere and so influence life on earth. More particularly their configuration at the moment of birth – but somehow not before or afterwards – was thought to mould an individual’s character.

The most powerful “god” was believed to be the Sun and a person’s Sun sign – The constellation in which the Sun was positioned on their date of birth. From this have come the 12 well-known signs of Zodiac and their associated dates.

Today, of course, we know that the Sun and Planets are not gods. Our Earth is a planet and Sun is a star, and the other stars are distant suns. There is no reason to suppose that they control our lives any more than do the trees or the mountains.

Furthermore, modern astrology still uses the constellation dates relating to theSun’s apparent position in 500 BC!. Since then, the slow wobble of the Earth’s axis has shifted the dates, but the astrologers have not adapted to this!!”(Cape Town Planetarium’s Star Watching by Anthony Fairall)

What Quran Says About Sun ,Moon and the Stars

The Sun Moon and the stars are nothing but Allah’s creation. They are all working under Allah’s command and have been made for the purpose of serving mankind. There is no reason at all to believe that they can somehow control our destiny or effect our lives on earth because as Muslims we should be well aware that the knowledge of destiny is only with Allah and is written in Loh e Mahfooz. ( The preserved Tablet in the heavens)

The following are some of the purposes of creating Sun, Moon and Stars as mentioned by Allah Subhana Watala in the Quran.

Sun and the Moon are signs of Allah

“And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon.” (Quran 41:37)

Sun and Moon help in counting Years and Months

“It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light And measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the number of years and the calculation. (Quran 10:5)

Sun and Moon Help in fixing time of Prayers

“Perform AsSalât from mid-day till the darkness of the night (i.e. the Zuhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib, and ‘Ishâ’ prayers), and recite the Qur’ân in the early dawn.

(Quran 17: 78 )

Stars are for the beautification of the sky

“And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders.” (Quran 15:16)

Stars for decoration and guarding the Heavens

“And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars) to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the Decree of Him the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.” (Quran 41:12)

Stars for finding direction in land and sea

“It is He Who has set the stars for you, so that you may guide your course with their help through the darkness of the land and the sea.(Quran 6:97)

Before GPS ships and people traveling in the desert used stars for finding their way. My father is a sailor and he showed me the instrument used in the olden days for finding direction using stars.

Consequences of reading horoscopes and Astrology Columns

Leads to Kufr – Disbelief

Astrology is considered Kufr because it destroys Tawheed Al Asma WasSifaat (The Unity of Allah’s Names and Attributes . Such beliefs give planets and stars some of God’s unique qualities, most prominent among them “Qadr” -Destiny.

Prophet Muhammad said “Whoever went to a fortune-teller and believed in what he said, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.” (Ahmed & Abu Dawood)

Belief in Stars is actually denial of divine destiny

Prophet Muhammad May Peace Be Upo n him said: “What I fear most for my nation after my time is: the injustice of their leader, the belief in the stars and the denial of divine destiny.”(Ibn Askeer)

The prayer is not accepted

Prophet Muhammad (May Peace be Upon him) said: “The Salaah of whoever approaches a fortuneteller and asks him about anything will not be accepted for forty days and nights” (Sahih Muslim)

Conclusion:

It is well established scientifically that stars and planets are not gods and thus there is no possible way that they can control life on earth. More so as Muslims we know very well from the Quran that destiny is controlled only by Allah and the knowledge of the future and the unseen only rests with Allah. Quran makes it very clear the purpose of creating stars and planets and the sun and the moon so there is no possible reason to believe that stars and planets influence our lives.

And most importantly believing in astrology leads to Shirk -Polytheism as it gives divine powers to stars. So all those Muslims who are just reading horoscopes for fun and trying to find out what is in their future through any means like cup reading, palmistry, numbers etc should know they are committing shirk “in fun”.

And Shirk is the one and only sin Allah will never ever forgive unless you Sincerely repent from it and never do such a thing again.

Would these fun loving people EVER bow down in front of idols just for fun?

Would they go to mandirs and greek temples and bow their heads and ask these gods of stone for help JUST FOR FUN?

What if your JUST FOR FUN lands you in big trouble – JUST ETERNITY in hell?

Dr. Israr Ahmed’s QTV Statement

Dr. Israr Ahmed’s QTV Statement regarding the hadith about Ali Radiallahu Anhuma:

QTV Statement Audio File

There was a lecture of Dr. Israr Ahmed on QTV Channel on 12th June,08 in which he was giving the Explanation of Surah Nisa Verse 43 : O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say…”

Dr. Israr quoted the reason of revelation of this verse, which one sect of Muslims found offensive to their beliefs.

According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir Ibn Jarir and hadiths mentioned in Sunan Abi Dawood and Jama Tirmizi which have been classified as Sahih by Sheikh Nasir Uddin Albani and also mentioned by Mufti Muhammad Shafi : Some companions along with Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) were gathered together and had a few drinks and this was before the prohibition of alcohol. Then time for prayer came and Ali (ra) was asked to lead the prayers in which due to intoxication he made a mistake. Then the above mentioned verse of Surah Nisa was revealed.

SOME FACTS FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE:

Drinking was common before the final order of its Prohibition came:

Before the complete Prohibition of alcohol, the companions of Prophet Muhammad used to drink alcohol and there is nothing to be ashamed about or upset about this fact. Allah’s orders came gradually, first telling the fact that Alcohol has some good in it but it has more harm in it. It was only this second order which forbade the Muslims from being drunk in the state of prayer and the final order came later which completely banned alcoholic drinks. When the final order came, some companions were at that moment drinking but on hearing the order totally threw away their drinks. Then some people started having doubts about the Muslims who were killed before the final prohibition, so Allah revealed the verse that there is no sin on them for what they had in the past before the prohibition order and this has been mentioned in Bukhari

Bukhari : Volume 3, Book 43, Number 644:

Narrated Anas:

I was the butler of the people in the house of Abu Talha, and in those days drinks were prepared from dates. Allah’s Apostle ordered somebody to announce that alcoholic drinks had been prohibited. Abu Talha ordered me to go out and spill the wine. I went out and spilled it, and it flowed in the streets of Medina. Some people said, “Some people were killed and wine was still in their stomachs.” On that the Divine revelation came:- “On those who believe And do good deeds There is no blame For what they ate (in the past).” (Quran 5: 93)

Ali Radiallahu Anhum was a human being and it is human to err

Why is it hard to accept that all Arabs used to drink before Alcohol was prohibited and if Ali (ra) had alcohol so did many other companions and there is no sin on them at all for doing something which was allowed at that time. Also Ali (ra) was a human and it is human to err or make a mistake in recitation of Quran. If it is your belief that he was a super human or an angel who never made any mistakes, then keep your beliefs to your own self. No need to impose your beliefs on others and make others do Explantion of Quran according to your own wishes and desires.

Stop Abusing Dr. Israr Ahmed: It is a sin to abuse and revile other Muslims

After this incident, the disgruntled people started abusing Dr. Israr and writing abuse on the walls of Karachi, making online hate groups against Dr. Israr and insulting him on forums and websites. For those people abusing Dr. Israr and using bad language against him… my response:

Is this what your Imam Ali (ra) taught you, to use abusive and obscene language against others??? You claim to be following the true Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad.. Is it the way of Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhe Wasallam to use filthy langugae against other humans?

Abdullah b. Amr b. al-As is reported to have said: Verily a person asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) who amongst the Muslims was better. Upon this (the Holy Prophet) remarked: From whose hand and tongue the Muslims are safe. Book 001, Number 0064: MUSLIM

Narrated Abu Huraira: that he heard the Prophet saying, “O Allah! If I should ever abuse a believer, please let that be a means of bringing him near to You on the Day of Resurrection.” Bukhari Volume 8, Book 75, Number 372:

Abusing others is an act of Jahalat

Narrated Al-Ma’rur:At Ar-Rabadha I met Abu Dhar who was wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a similar one. I asked about the reason for it. He replied, “I abused a person by calling his mother with bad names.” The Prophet said to me, ‘O Abu Dhar! Did you abuse him by calling his mother with bad names You still have some characteristics of ignorance. Volume 1, Book 2, Number 29: Bukhari

Sayings of Ali Radiallahu Anhum regarding the tongue and abusing others

“A man is hid under his tongue.”

“Do not speak in a state of ignorance.”

“That knowledge is superficial which is merely on the tongue. That knowledge is real which demonstrates itself in your practice.” Source (Witness Pioneer)

Hazrat Ali said: “I consider it highly undesirable to abuse and revile others….” [Nehjulbalagha, islamic seminary publications, sermon 211]

Allah has forbidden the Muslims to even abuse and revile the non-Muslims (Kafirs and Mushriks)… let alone Muslims! So how can you abuse other Muslims and Companions of Prophet Muhammad and Muslim Scholars??

It seems like your religion is good for nothing but abusing, cursing, reviling and insulting other Muslims, starting from the best of the companions of Prophet Muhammad saw, his honorable wives the mothers of the believers, sunni muslims, wahabis, salafis, Muslim Imams, scholars, preachers you name it! Arent all these people Muslims who have read the Kalima

Narrated Abu Said:

The Prophet said, “Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah’s Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them.” Bukhari Volume 5, Book 57, Number 22:

How can you abuse and curse left right and centre when Allah has prohibited the Muslims from even cursing or abusing non muslims, the mushriks, Christians and pagans?!!

Quran (6:108 )
” Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah…”

Update :(After reading my post I am sure you would be dying to curse and abuse me, as well as abusing Dr. Israr more, but please keep your dirty language insults and accusations off my blog)

Is God Unkind?

Sadness, grief, misery and sorrow are feelings which are a part and parcel of this life. When we look around us we see poverty and suffering, death and catastrophes and even in personal lives there is grief and sadness and setbacks and failures, loss of loved ones and heartache. In short this life is full of problems and is not as perfect as we want it to be.

These problems, tests and trials of this world may lead someone to think that God is unkind. People usually say what kind of a God lets people die in a tsunami or why God did this to us when we don’t like this and that.

However this is not the case at all. God is not unkind. This world is like an exam for each one of us. Just like we give exams in schools and colleges – we may find the exam hard and difficult but that does not mean that the examiner is unkind. The exam is just to test our skills and abilities to award us accordingly. We need to pass many exams to become successful in this world and to have a good career and a job. Similarly, this entire life is a test- so we will have to work really hard just like we work hard to pass our school exams or to get any degree and we will have to be patient as Allah says in the Quran:

“Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere,” (Quran 2:155)

Even the wealth and possessions given to a person are a trial for him or her. If some one is rich that does not at all mean that Allah is happy with such a person and therefore has bestowed him with wealth.

 Allah Subhana Watala informs us:

“And know that your possessions and your children are a test…” Quran 8:28

Also even our friends and family and people around us may be a test for us. Their injustice or hatered or their bad behaviour towards us may be a test for us as well to see if we are steadfast and patient.

Allah subhanawata says:

“And we have appointed some of you a test for others. Will you be patient?” (Quran 25:20)

Similarly while giving the exam we are not awarded immediately for our correct answers and we are not punished for our wrong answers there and then. We need to wait for the exam to be over and for the papers to be checked and the result to be announced. In the same fashion, this life is an exam – but we don’t know when the exam will get over. As soon as we die our exam would be over and we will have to wait for the result which will be announced on the day of Judgement.

 Allah says:

“Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. To Us must ye return.”(Quran 21:35)

When we are faced with difficulties, problems, sorrow and grief in this world we should realize that this is only a temporary passing phase where Allah is testing us to see if we still are thankful to Him and if we still obey Him. This does not mean that Allah is unkind. We must remember that He is our examiner. If we do not like the questions in our college exam – does that mean we should give up and leave the paper and start hating the examiner? NO not at all. We should persevere and be patient and continue asking for Allah’s help and mercy and do our best to solve that difficult question. Allah says that those who when faced with difficulties and problems lose heart and quit will be the worst losers in this world as well as the hereafter.

“There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge: if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see!” (Quran 22:11)

Why God created two genders?

Allah Subhana Watala – The Lord of the worlds says in Quran:

“Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge.” (Quran 36:36)

Allah the creator of everything has created everything in pairs, male and female, day and night, sun and moon, darkness and light etc.

The male is different from the female but they both are created from the same source as is mentioned in many places in the Quran. (Quran 4:1, 7:189)

The physiological and biological differences between sexes and their  roles are a fact and can not be denied. Men are more physically strong with more stamina, energy and resistance. Men and women differ greatly in weight shape, size and anatomy. Men and women also have huge psychological differences. They differ in the way they think, solve problems, their memory skills and sensitivity and emotions are also different. Various studies and research has proved these differences.

However, this does not mean that because of these differences there is discrimination among men and women. The fact is that men and women have both been created for a specific purpose. Both have been given abilities and skills which they need to fulfill the roles assigned to them.  Their emotions, skills and abilities in fact compliment each other. They are two parts of a whole and are essential to the human family to continue the human race and they need each other emotionally and physically as Allah says in the Quran:

“(He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).”(Quran 42:11)

“He created for you mates from amongst yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them and He put love and mercy between your hearts – for each other” (Quran 30:22).

Thus the purpose of creating two genders was to continue the human race and to provide them comfort, peace and harmony in each other’s companionship. The relationship between the husband and wife is compared  to that between the body and the clothes. Allah describes husband and a wife as garments of each other. (Quran 2:187) The spouses are close to each other, protect each, provide comfort and companionship to each other , hide each other’s deficiencies and are always there for each other.

Yet, each gender is independent and accountable for their own actions and deeds. Character, rather than the gender, is the defining criterion in front of Allah as He says in many places in the Quran:

“The better amongst you in the sight of God is the one who is better in character” (Quran 49:13).

Should 12 Rabiul Awal be Celebrated as Eid Milad un Nabi

Date of Birth of Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Most historians are silent about the exact date of birth of the Prophet (saw), where as those who do mention it, there are many contradictions and disagreements amongst them.

Muhammad Husain Haykal in the biography of Muhammad (saw) writes :

“Historians have disagreed about the year of Muhammad’s birth. Most of them hold that it took place in “the Year of the Elephant,” i.e. 570 C.E. Ibn ‘Abbas claims that Muhammad (saw) was born on “the Day of the Elephant.” Others claim that he was born fifteen years earlier. Still others claim that he was born a few days, months, or years, after “the Year of the Elephant.” Some even assert that Muhammad was born thirty years and others seventy years later than “the Year of the Elephant.”

Historians have also differed concerning the month of Muhammad’s birth although the majority of them agree that it was Rabi` al Awwal, the third month of the lunar year. It has also been claimed that he was born in Muharram, in Safar, in Rajab, or in Ramadan.

Furthermore, historians have differed as to the day of the month on which Muhammad was born. Some claim that the birth took place on the third, of Rabi` al Awwal; others, on the ninth; and others on the tenth. The majority, however, agree that Muhammad (saw) was born on the twelfth of Rabi` al Awwal, the claim of ibn Ishaq and other biographers.”

The presence of such disagreements on the exact day of his birth, proves that birthdays were not important to the Arabs. Arabs were very well known for their great memorization skills. They used to know the lineage of their families and other Arabs by heart; they used to know hundreds of verses of poetry by heart, a great feat of memorization.

‘Amr b. Sharid reported his father as saying: One day when I rode behind Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him), he said (to me): Do you remember any Poetry of Umayya b. Abu Salt. I said: Yes. He said: Then go on. I recited a couplet, and he said: Go on. Then I again recited a couplet and he said: Go on. I recited one hundred couplets (of his poetry). [Muslim 28:5602]

If the birthday of Rasool Allah (saw) was such an important celebration, surely they would have remembered it and noted it down. Further more, there is also no proof from history that Prophet Muhammad (saw) mentioned his exact date of birth nor encouraged his followers to hold milads or recite durood loudly on this day.

Neither is it recorded from any Sahaba that they celebrated his date of birth. However, he used to fast on Mondays, irrespective of the month and according to his Hadith he was born on a Monday and the deeds are also presented to Allah on Monday. He took up this day, not as a celebration but as a day of Worship.

Hadith References [Maliks Muwatta 6:2606][Maliks Muwatta 47: 017] [Tirmidhi 42:008]

Conclusion

History proves that Prophet Muhammad (saw) never celebrated his own birthday. He used to fast on Mondays irrespective of the month. All that we know for sure is that he was born on a Monday and that deeds are presented to Allah on Mondays, which is the reason he used to fast on Mondays. His exact date of birth and even the month is a subject of debate, which further proves the insignificance of birthday celebration of Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Further more none of the Sahaba, his closest companions ever celebrated his birthday, decorate mosques, read aloud poetry in his praise or hold milads or take out processions on 12th Rabiul Awal.

So when we say that we dearly love our Prophet saw and therefore there is no harm in displaying this love on 12 Rabiul Awa, we need to analyze our selves and ask our selves…

If companions of Rasool Allah did not celebrate Milad then why are we celebrating it?

Do we love Prophet Muhammd saw more than his closest companions who sacrificed their lives, family , wealth and property for him? Do we love our Prophet (saw) more than these sahaba? Do we know a better way of expressing our love then the sahaba? Are we better Muslims than the Sahaba Karam (ra)? Are we more pious than Abu Bakar and Umar and Ali and usman radiallahu anhum?? Are we more knowledgeable than these companions? Obviously Not!

This tradition of Milads seeped into Muslims culture later on and was not part of original Islam. It is clearly an innovation a new thing added into Islam which is a Bida and therfore should not be celebrated as it was not part of original Islam practiced by the companions at the time of Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Rasool Allah (saw) him self said:“Whoever has performed a deed which is not in the religion from its inception is rejected (not acceptable to Allah)“. (Bukhari and Muslim)

So how should Muslims prove their love for Rasool Allah (saw)? What is the right way to proclaim and display your love for Rasool Allah (saw)

What is Innovation?? Read the details about Bidah at the following link
