Honour Killings have nothing to do with Islam.

“It was eerily silent and dark when he finally reached home after a long tiring journey. He eagerly entered his house, relieved to be home after so long. As he took off his shoes,he heard some strange noises in his room. Could it be a burglar… he thought, as he tiptoed into his room. But when he entered the dimly lit room, he was shocked to see his wife with another man, doing the unthinkable!”

If you read this in a news paper you would know what happened next. He picked up his axe or a bat or a gun or whatever he could find and he killed them both to save his honor. A typical case of honor killing so prevalent in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Not only is it a brutal violent crime, but the name of Pakistan is maligned and my beautiful religion of Islam is dragged down into the mud as well. As if Islam is to blame. As if Islam promotes this kind of revenge or honor killing! As If Islam wants to kill women.

So today lets just see what Allah Subhanawa tala The Most Wise,The Most Merciful has to say to say about it.

It so happened that such a case was brought in front of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw). A man came to him and said that I returned home at night and saw my wife with another man. I heard with my own ears and saw with my own eyes (their act of fornication).

At that time only the verses related to fornication had been revealed. In order to punish someone, four witnesses         ( who saw them in the act) were needed. If four witnesses were not produced, then the one accusing would be punished by lashing. (for accusing a chaste person without proof).

So when the man came to him, Prophet Muhammad (s) was going to have him flogged (due to lack of witnesses) but then Allah Subhana Watala revealed the following verses:

And for those who accuse their wives, but have no witnesses except themselves, let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies by Allah that he is one of those who speak the truth.) (7. And the fifth (testimony); invoking of the curse of Allah on him if he be of those who tell a lie.) (8. But she shall avert the punishment from her, if she bears witness four times by Allah, that he is telling a lie.) (9. And the fifth; should be that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he speaks the truth.) (10. And had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy on you! And that Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, the All-Wise.

Al Quran: Surah Nur: Verse 6 – 10

The following is the event described in detail from Tafsir Ibn Kathir.

Hilal bin Umayyah came back from his lands at night and found a man with his wife. He saw with his own eyes and heard with his own ears, but he did not disturb him until the morning. In the morning he went to the Messenger of Allah and said, `O Messenger of Allah, I came to my wife at night and found a man with her, and I saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears.’ The Messenger of Allah did not like what he had said and got very upset. The Ansar gathered around him and said, `We were being tested by what Sa`d bin Ubadah said, and now the Messenger of Allah will punish Hilal bin Umayyah and declare his testimony before people to be unacceptable.’ Hilal said: `By Allah, I hope that Allah will make for me a way out from this problem.’ Hilal said, `O Messenger of Allah, I see how upset you are by what I have said, but Allah knows that I am telling the truth.’ By Allah, the Messenger of Allah wanted to have him flogged, but then Allah sent revelation to His Messenger . When the revelation came upon him, they knew about it from the change in his face, so they would leave him alone until the revelation was finished. Allah revealed the Ayah:

﴿وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَجَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهُمْ شُهَدَآءُ إِلاَّ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَشَهَـدَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ أَرْبَعُ شَهَـدَاتٍ بِاللَّهِ﴾

(And for those who accuse their wives, but have no witnesses except themselves, let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies by Allah…,) Then the revelation was finished and the Messenger of Allah said,

«أَبْشِرْ يَا هِلَالُ فَقَدْ جَعَلَ اللهُ لَكَ فَرَجًا وَمَخْرَجًا»

(Rejoice, O Hilal, for Allah has made a way out for you.) Hilal said, `I had been hoping for this from my Lord, may He be glorified.’ The Messenger of Allah said:

«أَرْسِلُوا إِلَيْهَا»

(Send for her.) So they sent for her and she came’

The Messenger of Allah recited these Ayahs to them both, and reminded them that the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe than the punishment in this world. Hilal said, `By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I have spoken the truth about her.’ She said, `He is lying.’ The Messenger of Allah said,

«لَاعِنُوا بَيْنَهُمَا»

(Make them both swear the Li`an.) So Hilal was told, `Testify.’ So he testified four times by Allah that he was one of those who speak the truth. When he came to the fifth testimony, he was told, `O Hilal, have Taqwa of Allah, for the punishment of this world is easier than the punishment of the Hereafter, and this will mean that the punishment will be inevitable for you.’

He said, `By Allah, Allah will not punish me for it, just as He has not caused me to be flogged for it.’ So he testified for the fifth time that the curse of Allah would be upon him if he was telling a lie.

Then it was said to his wife, `Testify four times by Allah that he is telling a lie.’ And when his wife reached the fifth testimony, she was told, `Have Taqwa of Allah, for the punishment of this world is easier than the punishment of the Hereafter, and this will mean that the punishment will be inevitable for you.’

She hesitated for a while, and was about to admit her guilt, then she said: `By Allah, I will not expose my people to shame, and she swore the fifth oath that the wrath of Allah would be upon her if he was telling the truth.’ Then the Messenger of Allah separated them, and decreed that her child should not be attributed to any father, nor should the child be accused, and whoever accused her or her child, they would be subject to punishment.

He also decreed that ﴿Hilal﴾ was not obliged to house her or feed her, because they had not been separated by divorce, nor had he died and left her a widow. He said,

(If she gives birth to a red-haired child (with skinny thighs) and thin legs, then he is Hilal’s child, but if she gives birth to a curly-haired child with thick legs and plump buttocks, then this is what she is accused of.) She subsequently gave birth to a child who was curly-haired with thick legs and plump buttocks, and the Messenger of Allah said,

«لَوْلَا الْأَيْمَانُ لَكَانَ لِي وَلَهَا شَأْنٌ»

(Were it not for the oath that she swore, I would deal with her.)’

SubhanAllah!  He saw his wife in the dead of the night fornicating with another man. Imagine the utmost patience he displayed. He waited till the morning to come to Prophet Muhammad (s) and see Allah’s mercy … He revealed in His guidebook, guideline for the extreme of the cases. SubhanAllah! So many lessons from this case of this Sahabi (ra).

So in an extreme case, where a man himself sees his wife with another man, even then he is NOT allowed to take the law into his own hands. He can not harm or kill them.He will not fly into a rage and do as he pleases. He will bring his wife to the judge. There he will take an oath in Allahs name four times that he saw what he saw. Then his wife is allowed to declare her innocence (or accept the crime if she fears Allah). She also takes oath four times that her husband is lying. In the fifth oath she will invoke Allah’s curse on her own self incase she is lying. After this , they are divorced and she is also given her due mahr. She is not labelled as a fornicator. She is considered innocent.

Such is the care and justice for women in Islam. She is protected  and given benefit of  doubt whether she is guilty or whether she is innocent. Such is Allah’s mercy.

Who says women have no rights in Islam?? and for all those who scream that a woman’s testimony is not equal to a mans’ in Islam… read the verses again. In this case, her testimony ALONE suffices for her. SubhanAllah Allahu Akbar.!

All that honor killing and the karo kari nonsense that you hear and read about is NOT ISLAM. In many parts of our country, even if a girl is seen speaking to a boy , she is killed in the name of honor. If a man, even as much as suspects his wife of having an affair, he kills her in the name of honor. If daughters have boyfriends.. the parents think they have the  option of honor killing! NAY that is NOT SO. Honour killings have nothing to do with Islam. It is cultural. It is murder, pure and simple and on the day of judgement, the first crime Allah will account will  be murders. Please do not confuse culture with Islam. Everything thing that occurs in a so-called-Muslim-Country is not according to the Quran.

May Allah guide us and our nation towards understanding the Quran and implementing it in our lives. Ameen.

Effects of Quran Vs Effects of Music on an apple!

Shared By: Quanita Rizvi

Assalamoalaikum wrwb

Few weeks ago my daughter, who is in first grade had a science fair at her school.  We decided to do an interesting experiment.  Our Hypothesis was that listening to Qur’an has physical effects just like listening to music has physically visible effects.  To prove our point we took an apple which also has 60-70 percent water content like human bodies.  We cut the apple into half, put each half in a zip lock bag and then for seven days played Qur’an for one half of the apple and music to another half of the apple .. Both apples were kept on room temperature.  The results were amazing and so our hypothesis was accepted.

In Quran Surah Luqman Allah(s.a.w) says:
And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allâh without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allâh, or the Verses of the Qur’ân) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).(6)

In surah Yunus Allah SWt says about  Quran:
O mankind! There hath come to you a admonition from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts and for those who believe, a Guidance and a Mercy. (57)

Please look at the attached pictures.  The first picture is of the apple when it was freshly cut. Second picture is after 3 weeks of the experiment.

JazakAllah Khiaran

Is Islamic Law Outdated?

by Javeria

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

‘Islamic Law is outdated’ is a misconception which is generally prevalent amongst the non Muslims and the liberal Muslims. When it comes to Islamic laws such as hijab, forbiddance of alcohol, lashing, stoning, cutting off hands etc, most Muslims and non Muslims, unable to comprehend the wisdom and practicality of these laws try to do away with these laws by stating that Islamic law is barbaric and oppressing and thus outdated and not practical for the present modern times. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan of Pakistan stated that since there were no prisons at the time of revelation of the Quran, which is why such laws were then needed and now in the modern times, the most appropriate punishment is imprisonment.[1] Jullundri gave metaphorical meanings to the Quranic Ayahs by stating that ‘cut off their hands’ means cut off their advantages by putting them in prison.[2]

However if one ponders and reflects over the practicality and end results of Islamic laws, it becomes quite clear that the Islamic Law is the Most Supreme and is so updated and modern that it is applicable for all times.

Islamic law aims to benefit the society and remove all forms of corruption, injustice and exploitation. In this article two examples will be given to prove that Islamic Law is not outdated but is the most modern and up to date set of laws for all times.

Forbiddence of ‘KHAMAR’

Islam clearly spells out the forbidden things; where as the rest of the things are declared to be permissible. So these laws would be applicable and easy to follow at all times, because the list of forbidden things is very small and generic.

Amongst the forbidden drinks in Islam is alcohol. It was gradually forbidden and the final ayah regarding its prohibition was revealed. Allah Subhanawatala said:

“ O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.”

َAl Maidah :90

In the above Ayah pronouncing the forbiddance of alcohol, the word خمر is used. There are many other words which could have been used here to refer to wine and alcohol such as  نبيذ or  شراب. But there is great wisdom in using the word ‘Khamr’ here.Literal meaning of the word خمر is ‘the thing which covers the head/mind’, it is from the same root word as خمار which is a cloth used by women to cover the head. Thus the word Khamr is used to refer to things which befog the mind. There is also the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (s) declaring all intoxicating things to be ‘khamr’.

bn ‘Umar reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Every intoxicant is Khamr and every intoxicant is forbidden. (Muslim)

Therefore all drinks or food substances which intoxicate the mind would come under ‘khamr’ and are forbidden. This shows the great wisdom of Islamic laws and their universality. In the era of Prophet Muhammad (s) there were no narcotics, but in our times drugs have become a major problem. Therefore hashish, opium, cocaine, morphine, marijuana and all such substances which befog the mind would also come under ‘khamr’ This is to ensure the safety and well being of individuals and society as a whole as the disastrous impact of alcohol and drugs is well acknowledged.

If the Islamic Law was outdated, it would not be able to able to deal with new substances, but would only be applicable in its own time. However, the fact is that since the Islamic laws comes from Allah who has full knowledge of the past present and the future therefore all the laws are so updated that they were fully applicable in the past, are still applicable in the present and will be fully applicable in the future. If in the future any new substance is discovered or created which also has an intoxicating effect, it would also come under ‘khamr’ and would thus be forbidden.

HIJAB in front of certain children

The Islamic laws are enacted for the betterment of the society, to make the make the environment safe, peaceful and morally clean free from exploitation and injustice. If a severe punishment to an individual would stop further crime and rid the society of that evil, then such a punishment is justified and practical and beneficial for the public. However, because of this stance of Islamic legislation, Islamic laws are usually termed barbaric and the laws of hijab considered oppressing towards the female.

In the example below, we will see how the injunction of hijab in our modern times is not only applicable but is much needed to stop crimes such as rape and harassment.

The Islamic law is a preventive one; it wants to prevent all crimes from taking place, which is why it handles even those issues which lead to such crimes and immoralities.

The reason why most immoral activities take place is due to the natural attraction between men and women and men have an inclination to look at women, to admire their beauty, which becomes the starting point of all immoralities. The laws of hijab have therefore been enacted to eliminate this root cause.

Women are not allowed to display their beauty  and be alone with men except to a few ‘mahram’ men, their slaves, very old servants and some children.

Allah Subhana Watala Says:

“And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.”An-Noor:31

In the above quoted ayah, the women are allowed to show their beauty to children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women, but if the children are aware of private details, then women should observe hijab, even in front of such children.

In the present times, because of the open immorality and its broadcast day and night over television the children are now aware of the private matters of intimacy and have lost their innocence. It is because of this that boys as young as 9 and 10 years have committed rape.[3] [4]

This proves that even children, if corrupted by the society and media, are capable of immoral activities and crime. Thus to safeguard the women and girls, hijab is must even in front of such children. Hijab not only means the outer garment, but also means that women and girls should not be left alone with na-mehrams. Other innocent children should also not be allowed to play with such children as they are at a great risk of molestation and even rape.

Regarding hijab from children, Allah Subhanawatala could have just said ‘children who have not yet reached puberty’. But this was not stated and a condition was set which was not applicable in the time of Prophet Muhammad (s).So this shows that there is great wisdom behind this injunction to make it applicable for all times.

When it is said that the ‘Islamic Law is Outdated’, the main point that is missed is that The Islamic law is divine and from Allah Subhanawatala The Aleem, The Hakeem, the Most Knowledgeable and The Most Wise. To consider Islamic Law to be outdated is to deny these supreme qualities of our creator. The One Who created this universe and the humans knows their nature and knows what is best for them. Humans, with their finite intellect and knowledge can only come up with laws which are flawed and have many negative side effects. The USA has the highest rate of incarceration in the world[5] but according to the statistics of 1994, almost 70% of released prisoners were rearrested within three years.[6] In USA the crime rate is also increasing year by year and despite the open immorality and prostitution, rate of rapes is also increasing. This shows the ineffectiveness of the prison system made by humans. In order to be kind to the criminal, death penalty and other severe punishments are not given out, but this is done at the expense of compromising the welfare and safety of the public and fails to deter future crime.

Similarly, despite being aware of the negative effects of alcohol and drugs, the western society refuses to ban such items, but this is also a great compromise on the safety of the public. Most of the road accidents are due to drunk driving and lives have been destroyed and some are living a life of non existence. The case of Jacqueline Saburido should be enough to ban alcohol everywhere. [7]

If Islamic laws are implemented and severe hudood punishments are meted out to criminals, a few punishments would be enough to set an example and deter future crime and loss of lives.

What the world needs now are Islamic Laws, because Islamic Laws are most updated and they are the key to a safe and a secure environment free from crime and corruption which plagues all countries and all societies of our time.

Where did the Universe Come From? Part II

The Big Bang theory was totally rejected at first. But those who supported it had predicted that the ignition
of the Big Bang would have left behind a sort of ‘hot flash’ of radiation.

If a big black wood stove produces heat that you can feel, then in a similar manner, the Big Bang should
produce its own kind of heat that would echo throughout the universe.

In 1965, without looking for it, two physicists at Bell Labs in New Jersey found it.  At first, Arno Penzias
and Robert Wilson were bothered because, while trying to refine the world’s most sensitive radio antenna,
they couldn’t eliminate a bothersome source of noise. They picked up this noise everywhere they pointed the

At first they thought it was bird droppings.  The antenna was so sensitive it could pick up the heat of bird droppings (which certainly are warm when they’re brand new) but even after cleaning it off, they still picked up this noise.

This noise had actually been predicted in detail by other astronomers, and after a year of checking and re-checking the data, they arrived at a conclusion: This crazy Big Bang theory really was correct.

In an interview, Penzias was asked why there was so much resistance to the Big Bang theory.

He said, “Most physicists would rather attempt to describe the universe in ways which require no explanation.
And since science can’t *explain* anything – it can only *describe* things – that’s perfectly sensible.  If you
have a universe which has always been there, you don’t explain it, right?

“Somebody asks you, ‘How come all the secretaries in your company are women?’ You can say, ‘Well, it’s
always been that way.’  That’s a way of not having  to explain it.  So in the same way, theories which
don’t require explanation tend to be the ones accepted by science, which is perfectly acceptable and the best way to make science work.”

But on the older theory that the universe was eternal, he explains: “It turned out to be so ugly that people
dismissed it.  What we find – the simplest theory – is a creation out of nothing, the appearance out of nothing
of the universe.”

Penzias and his partner, Robert Wilson, won the Nobel Prize for their discovery of this radiation.  The Big
Bang theory is now one of the most thoroughly validated theories in all of science.

Robert Wilson was asked by journalist Fred Heeren if the Big Bang indicated a creator.

Wilson said, “Certainly there was something that set it all off.  Certainly, if you are religious, I can’t think of a better theory of the origin of the universe to match with Genesis.”

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s installment: “Why the Big Bang was the most precisely planned event in all of history.”

“A Day Without Yesterday” – Albert Einstein,

Scientific Miracle of the Quran: Big Bang mentioned in the Quran?

Posted in Quran, Religion, Science

Where did the Universe Come From?

100 years ago, Albert Einstein published three papers that rocked the world.  These papers proved the existence of the atom, introduced the theory of relativity, and described quantum mechanics. Pretty good debut for a 26 year old scientist, huh?

His equations for relativity indicated that the universe was expanding.  This bothered him, because if it was expanding, it must have had a beginning and a beginner. Since neither of these appealed to him, Einstein introduced
a ‘fudge factor’ that ensured a ‘steady state’ universe, one that had no beginning or end.

But in 1929, Edwin Hubble showed that the furthest galaxies were fleeing away from each other, just as the  Big Bang model predicted.  So in 1931, Einstein embraced what would later be known as the Big Bang theory, saying,
“This is the most beautiful and satisfactory explanation of creation to which I have ever listened.”  He referred to the ‘fudge factor’ to achieve a steady-state universe as the biggest blunder of his career.

As I’ll explain during the next couple of days, Einstein’s theories have been thoroughly proved and
verified by experiments and measurements.  But there’s an even more important implication of Einstein’s discovery.
Not only does the universe have a beginning, but time itself, our own dimension of cause and effect, began
with the Big Bang.

That’s right — time itself does not exist before then.  The very line of time begins with that creation event.  Matter, energy, time and space were created in an instant by an intelligence outside of space and time.
About this intelligence, Albert Einstein wrote in his book “The World As I See It” that the harmony of natural law “Reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting
of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection.”*

He went on to write, “Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced
that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe–a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble.”*

Pretty significant statement, wouldn’t you say?

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s installment:  “Bird Droppings on my Telescope.”

Theology” by Max Jammer

The Most Concise Definition of God (Allah in Arabic)“Say: He is Allah,
The One and Only.
“Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
“He begets not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.”
[Al-Qur’an 112:1-4]

The word ‘Assamad’ is difficult to translate. It means ‘absolute existence’, which can be attributed only to Allah (swt), all other existence being temporal or conditional. It also means that Allah (swt) is not dependent on any person or thing, but all persons and things are dependent on Him.

Surah Ikhlas – the touchstone of theology:Surah Ikhlas (Chapter 112) of the Glorious Qur’an, is the touchstone of theology. ‘Theo’ in Greek means God and ‘logy’ means study. Thus Theology means study of God and to Muslims this four line definition of Almighty God serves as the touchstone of the study of God. Any candidate to divinity must be subjected to this ‘acid test’. Since the attributes of Allah given in this chapter are unique, false gods and pretenders to divinity can be easily dismissed using these verses.

Posted in My Articles, Quran, Say No to Music

I thought I couldn’t live without ‘music’…

There was a time when I wouldn’t leave the house without my discman. My harddisk was filled with Mbs of music files…you name the song and i had it. My room was filled with cassettes and cds. MTV was one of my favourite channels and I even had my favourite videos recorded!

Then I heard a cassette  ‘From The Shadows’ by Halaqah media (Available here) and i got scared..really really scared. Amongst other issues, this documentary discussed how satanic subliminal messages were found in many pop songs and and the singers were actually worshipping and calling out to satan through their music. It gave examples of songs from Madonna and Eagles.

In Madonna’s song “Like a Prayer” it is not God that the prayer is directed at, but Satan. When played backwards, the words “0h hear us, Satan,” are clearly audible, one of my favourite songs by Eagles Hotel California also was an ode to satan  and when played backwords you can hear a spooky voice  say ‘yaaay satan’ and if you know about the rituals of ‘Free Masons’ you will realize that its a song about  visiting a Free Masonic lodge. To be honest the song always sounded spooky to me!

I did a lot of research on the internet and found that satanic messages in songs were very common and these messages do actually have an impact on your subconciousness. For days I couldn’t sleep. The satanic voices kept going round and round in my head. then I stopped listening to music completely.

This went on for some time, I dont remember exactly how long….there was a void and then i started swaying towards music again. satan made me think up of a lot of justificationa and excuses like… oh i only listen to nice people they dont have such things in their songs.. oh its only heavy metal that has satanic messages, i listen to pop and ballads.. i dont listen to madonna  and micheal jackson.. etc etc…. I couldn’t live without music… i said…and music was back in my life with a bang! My collection restarted and soon i had all my favourite  songs loaded on my harddisk.. music was playing all the time on my pc even while i was studying and sometimes even sleeping…When i went to Uk for studies, my laptop had my entire music collection. My Australian flatmate was quite surprised to see my music collection! It had  her favourite songs too!

Then i came back after completing my studies in 2006 and ramadan was about to start. During ramadan my mother dragged me to listen to the explanation of the Quran. Quran entered my life and i started studying it regularly by joining a course.

I started realizing why Music was haram. It took me away from the remembrance of Allah , it took me away from the Quran. If i listened to Music, even during my Salah (prayer) the song would be going on in my head. I would be physically praying but my heart and mind were not! early in the morning the first thing on my lips would be songs… not Allah’s name.I started seeing the shirk in songs and the open delcarations of disobedience to Allah   in all the romantic songs, ballads and love songs .

‘Everything I do, i do it for you’  (Bryan Adams) – Everything for WHO?

‘Il do anything for you…anything you want me too.’-(BSB) I’ll do ANYTHING?

My Everything is supposed to be for Allah..not any human being! What am i saying.. what am i obscenity and declarations of love…If i dont mean them then why should i say these words and sing them or listen to them! every word I utter is being recorded by the angles …what explanation will i give for these songs!

I started avoiding music …

Then discussions started ,is music haram or halal? People would say…. Music is not haram. Its not in Quran… we pray we remeber Allah but we listen to songs as well and we can  concentrate in our prayers… etc etc…Music does not interfere in our worship… we only listen when we are busy in work.. etc etc… there is no harm in listening to nice music… etc etc…

I came across a hadith in Sahih Al Bukhari in which our Prophet Muhammad (s) said : “From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful.(Sahih Al Bukhari)

This was the final blow!

So people who are justifying listening to music are the ones this hadith is talking about. From this saying of Prophet Muhammad (s) it is clear that Music is haram. Anybody who disagrees and brings in ifs and buts.. is fulfulling this prophecy of Prophet Muhammad (s) that his followers will one day make musical instruments halal for themselves!Just to make things clear – only one instrument -The Daff is allowed in Islam.

I stopped listening to Music. but for how long….?They say Music is the food for the soul.I realized my soul still needed some ‘music’ . I could’nt live without ‘music’…and i was right..but i was feeding my soul with the wrong kind of music. My soul wanted the ‘divine music’.The divine music of the Qur’an

I started listening to various different recitors and some surahs recited by some qaris was the most beautiful thing i had ever heard. It was far beyond what i had ever heard. The beauty of the words, the peace it gives and the divine rythm of Allah’s words was truly amazing and it is indescribeable.

I realized that the first time i stopped listening to music, there was a void so i went back on the path of shaytan. But the second time around the craving of my soul for music was satisfied in the halal way with halal divine music of the Quran. As one has rightly said,Moseqe khabees rooh ki ghiza hai – Music is the food of the wretched soul. The real tayyab food of the good soul is the Qur’an.

I usually don’t blog about my personal life, but now i think i should.. maybe somebody will learn something from my life and change their life for good and make Allah happy. I don’t  mean to show off with this post, may Allah purify my intentions ..I realized that Music is such an emotional subject.. people just get into arguments and long debates because they just find it impossible to leave music, just like i did. I thought it was impossible…. but it is.

So all those of  you who think and say that you can’t live without music. Think again. There is halal music and there is haram music. All you have to do is change  your taste. Don’t satisfy your soul with haram when the most beautiful halal music is available….Listen to the Quran, listen to halal nasheeds with beautiful lyrics and no musical instruments.. change your taste,, there is a lot of good halal music out there and the best of it is the Qur’an!!
